Pharmaceutical name: Lisinopril

Listril is prescribed for managing hypertension, heart failure, and diabetic nephropathy. It functions by dilating blood vessels to prevent constriction. Its mechanism of action is linked to its capacity to inhibit ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme), thus avoiding the tightening and narrowing of blood vessels.
When using Listril, adhere to your healthcare provider's guidance. Do not stop taking Listril or modify your dosage unless directed by your healthcare provider. Listril can be taken with or without food, at the same time each day. Consume it with a full glass of water. If you forget a dose, do not take the missed dose if it is almost time for your next one. Instead, take your next scheduled dose and continue as usual. Do not double up on your Listril dose. If you have any doubts, reach out to your healthcare provider for assistance.
The common mild side effects of Listril may include dizziness, a dry cough, minor stomach discomfort or pain, headaches, fatigue, diarrhea, and lightheadedness. These side effects should not persist long, but if they continue or cause concern, consult your healthcare provider. Less common side effects may involve numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, sores on the tongue or mouth, an itchy rash or other skin issues, infections, a sore throat, severe chills, bruising easily, and reduced urine output. These symptoms can be serious, so contact your healthcare provider right away if you notice any of them.
If you experience an allergic reaction, go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Common signs of an allergic reaction can include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Listril may not be appropriate for everyone. Always consult your healthcare provider before taking this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medications (prescription or over-the-counter), taking any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or health concerns.
The appropriate dosage and prescription are typically individualized based on the patient and the specific condition being treated. Do not modify your dosage without approval from your healthcare provider. Listril should only be used as prescribed and directed.
